The kitchen is arguably the most active area of the home. It’s the place family comes together and where delicious meals are made. With all of the opportunities a kitchen offers, from baking to cooking to coffee to cleaning, storage is very important. At Carlisle Classic Homes, we’ve built some pretty genius pantries that allow for a space for all the storage you could need in your kitchen, even those things you might not think of. Here’s just a few ways you can maximize your pantry storage as you embark on your new home build or kitchen renovation!

Varying Shelf Sizes
Not all shelves are the same, and not all things can fit on every shelf. When building your pantry, it’s very important to think about all of which you might store in your pantry. At least, consider how tall you might need certain shelves or how wide some should be. Even if you don’t have a complete plan for everything that will go into your pantry, leaving room for future changes to your storage is a great way to maximize the use of the kitchen’s closet.

Drawers
You might have drawers in your kitchen, but that’s because they have great uses! Incorporating drawers for various uses is the perfect way to gain extra storage, especially for smaller items. It also allows, just as shelves do, for separators to really satisfy that organization itch.

Outlets
It might sound odd, but the more outlets in your home the better! You never know where you might need one or when it could make your life easier. This includes the pantry! If you have a big enough pantry in your home build, you could really utilize the space by making it an area for a coffee bar, extra freezer space, a beverage fridge, a microwave, or anything your heart desires.

Space for Small Appliances
With outlets in mind, you’re going to need space for small appliances. For example, if you’re thinking about putting a small coffee bar in your pantry so that you aren’t taking up so much room on your kitchen counters, creating a counter space for a coffee machine is a perfect way to maximize! Of course, it’s not just limited to your caffeine addiction. Having a space in your pantry for a toaster, beverage fridge, microwave, and more is a great way to make sure your kitchen works for you.
