We’re taking a step back into some of our past projects, specifically diving into traditional home inspirations for those who love a classic, timeless, and nostalgic feel. From colonial to Tudor to rustic, a traditional home can look like many different things. Regardless, they will often feature elements such as large windows and doors, darker colors, ornamented floors, and intricate woodwork. Let these six traditional houses inspire you for your own custom build or house remodel!
Traditional Meets Modern

This traditional home located in Seattle’s Wallingford area is full of timeless details from floor to ceiling. Areas such as the kitchen incorporate modern elements alongside the traditional. Every room is unique in its own way, and, among the classic darker colors, there are creative pops of color that truly make each space stand out. This project included stunning woodwork and many large, embellished windows.
Traditional Meets Contemporary

Among the contemporary lie traditional details that truly bring out the character of this waterfront home located in Fauntleroy. From the intentional woodwork to the eye-catching fireplace to the open window seat, the timeless feel is all around. Of course, the star of the show is the built-in kitchen hutch featuring beautiful cabinetry and intricate glass designs. This project was in collaboration with architect Okano Picard Studio. Truly, what’s not to love?
Cozy Tudor Dream

One of the most eccentric sub-genres of the traditional home is the Tudor home. There are several elements that bring out the character of this house. Gorgeous wood details are the backbone of every room, whether it’s in the windows, doors, floors, ceilings, or stairs. This design choice is complemented by stain glass windows and a beautiful pop of green in the kitchen and bathroom. This house is full of cozy cottage vibes!
Tudor Cottage

Speaking of cottages, this Tudor home located in Queen Anne might just earn the name! From the unique exterior to the classic intricate woodwork, the only thing not-so-traditional about this house is the kitchen, which leans a bit towards the modern. However, it still sits seamlessly among the wooden arched door and stone fireplace. This build is straight out of a fairytale!
A Traditional Twist

In terms of traditional home inspirations, this one is for those who like a little bit more of a modern touch. With traditional woodwork on the staircase, floors, and doors, as well as clawfoot bathtubs, there’s no denying the timeless feel incorporated into this home. That’s why we love the variety that traditional homes offer!
Rustic Waterfront Lodge

Between the contemporary kitchen and gorgeous waterfront, this Lake Washington lodge might not seem so traditional at first glance. But with its rustic wooden detail layered throughout every room, the nostalgia is there. The traditional elements that are the character of this home can be seen in the bathroom, the family rooms, and even in the exterior details. With the help of H2D Architecture & Design, we were able to bring this rustic home to life!
